Overview of the Geopark

The Silti-Butajera Geopark is centered on the Butajira Volcanic Field (BVF), located in the Silti-Butajera-Debre Zeyt Fault Zone on the western margin of the Main Ethiopian Rift in central Ethiopia. The area is characterized by a volcanic landscape featuring basaltic cinder cones, maars, lava flows, and a variety of geosites with significant geological, geomorphological, and cultural values.
